Budget discussions with 16 ministries completed, Finance Minister Poudel focuses on smart programs

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Finance has concluded discussions with 16 ministries regarding the budget preparation for the fiscal year 2082/083. In this context, discussions were held with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Aviation today.

In discussions with ministries, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has urged to prioritize policy shifts over budget figures. He has emphasized the core essence and spirit of federalism, the role of the union, provinces and local levels, the transfer of programs and projects in the union according to the roles of the provinces and local levels, and coordination and partnership between the three levels of government.

He says that federalism will not be strong if the union does the work done by the provinces and local levels. Finance Minister Poudel has urged to review all past programs and plans and focus on federal plans, stop, reduce, adjust programs and plans, continue essential programs, and include smart programs and plans that connect with the people according to the changing times.

He has also requested not to include projects worth less than three million rupees. Similarly, Finance Minister Poudel also emphasized prioritizing plans and programs that are being studied and implemented. He has also urged to submit realistic proposals without having to make changes and revisions while submitting programs and plans.

The Finance Minister says that a disciplined and realistic budget will be presented to address the aspirations of the people and the needs of the nation, taking into account the available resources. Two days ago, the Ministry of Finance had discussed with thematic ministries and urged them to pay special attention to budget allocation as well as capital expenditure.

The Ministry of Finance has been holding separate discussions with the relevant ministries, including the National Planning Commission. The Ministry of Finance says that when the program and budget are coordinated between the three parties, ownership in implementation will increase and appropriate results will be achieved.

The Ministry of Finance had previously discussed with the ministries of physical, urban development, communication, education, defense, home, sports, land reform, agriculture, drinking water, federal affairs, industry, health, energy, women and children. The Ministry of Finance is also planning to discuss the upcoming budget with the remaining ministries.
