Myagdi. Five years after the agreement to construct an 18-meter-long bridge over the Dang Khola, which flows through the border of Malika Rural Municipality-5 and Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-7, work has not begun. According to Ashok Khatri, Ward Chairman of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-7, the construction of the bridge that was supposed to be completed on 2078 BS has not started.
The temporary bridge built by Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality on Dangkhola in 2075 BS has deteriorated and the lack of construction of a new bridge has caused problems in transportation for residents of Gurja, Lulang, Muna, Mudi, and Takam.
The Infrastructure Development Office has stated that the construction of the bridge was affected after the construction site of the previously proposed dam of the Myagdikhola Hydropower Project fell into the construction site, and the construction contractor deployed in the work area was unable to work immediately after the agreement was signed. After the flood of 2077 BS damaged the construction site, the distance of the bridge had to be increased and the construction contractor went to court for judicial settlement due to the lack of agreement with the concerned body to provide the increased cost according to the changed situation. The office has withdrawn the Rs 3.3 million deposit provided to the contractor as an advance after the construction work did not even begin.
