Kavrepalanchok. Vehicles are currently operating on an alternative road built by crossing the river on the BP Highway, which was damaged due to the floods and landslides in the second week of Asoj. Vehicles are currently operating on an alternative road built by crossing the river from Chowkidanda, Namobuddha Municipality-5, Kavrepalanchok to Barkhekhola, the border of Sindhuli.

The BP Highway, a short distance journey from Kathmandu to the Eastern Tarai, is the destination of choice for everyone. But as the rainy season approaches, since those roads are not passable, the Road Division Bhaktapur is in the process of constructing an alternative road by raising it above the river level, keeping in mind the upcoming rainy season.

Under which, if the road at Chowkidanda is severely damaged, the work of constructing an alternative road by raising it above the river level is underway.

Although the office has invited tenders for the construction of a long-term paved road, the process of ‘bid opening’, evaluation and the contractor coming to the field is still pending, said Durga Prasad, engineer at the Road Division Office Bhaktapur, which is currently in the process of constructing an alternative road.

The height of the river has also increased and now Since the vehicles are running on the embankment, it will be affected by the rain, so work is being done to change the riverbed and raise the height of the road above the riverbed so that it runs along the wall.

For that, work is currently underway at a rapid pace in the Chowkidanda section. The flood washed away about eight kilometers of road from Chowkidanda in Namobuddha Municipality of Kavrepalanchok to the Sindhuli border.

‘For the time being, we have graveled and cleaned the washed-out road and made the road pass through the riverbed in some places,’ he said. ‘Now, wherever the road has been built across the riverbed, we are in the process of changing the riverbed and raising it above the existing level to build the road.’

According to Chandra Bahadur Lama, an employee of the Bhaktapur Road Division, work has been completed in Boksekuna and Chiuribas near Mangaltar so far, and work is still to be done in Mamti, Dalabesi, Narke, Gimdibesi, Charsayabesi and Katunje Ghumti. .

Currently, work is underway at Chowkidanda, and that section will be completed in a few days. Currently, 30 operators, including two engineers and a sub-engineer, are working continuously from the Road Division Office to complete the work.

The office has stated that work is underway with the goal of completing all those works by the upcoming Baisakh. If the road is built in this way, passengers are hoping that vehicles will be able to operate on the BP Highway even during the rainy season.
