Both houses of the federal parliament meet, what will the RASTRP and RPP do?

Kathmandu. Both houses of the federal parliament are meeting today. The Meeting of the House of Representatives will be held at 11:00 am and that of the National Assembly at 1:15 pm.

The discussion on the Appropriation Bill is being started in the Meeting of the House of Representatives. As part of the discussion on various headings of the Appropriation Bill- 2082 BS, the meeting is likely to discuss various topics of seven different ministries in a grouped manner.

Ministry of Forest and Environment, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ministry of Health and Population and Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs are scheduled to discuss various topics in a grouped manner.

According to the Parliament Secretariat, the agenda is to present the proposals to cut the expenditure received on the various heads of the ministry mentioned under the Appropriation Bill, 2082 BS.

Similarly, State Affairs and Good Governance Committee President Ramhari Khatiwada shared that the committee’s report on The Nepal Citizenship (Second Amendment) Bill, 2082 BS is scheduled to be presented.

Lawmakers from rastriya swatantra party (RSSWP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have been obstructing the meeting of the House of Representatives demanding the resignation of The Commission of Inquiry and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in the ‘visit visa’ scandal. The NCP leaders have been saying that they will disrupt the House until their demands are addressed.

In the meeting of the National Assembly, the concerned minister is scheduled to answer oral questions related to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel is likely to answer the questions raised in the general discussion on the annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS.

Chairperson of the Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee Kamala Panta will present the study report on upgrading Nepal from least developed country to developing country, 2081 BS. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Poudel will present a proposal in today’s meeting of the National Assembly seeking to send the Customs Bill- 2080 BS to the Legislation Management Committee for clause-wise discussion.

The meeting will present a condolence motion on the demise of Constituent Assembly member Birendra Juharchan and former member of the House of Representatives Dhundiraj Shastri. rss
