BMW to completely convert Munich plant to EVs, becoming aggressive in EVs

Kathmandu. German automaker BMW is set to become aggressive in manufacturing electric vehicles. BMW is focusing on EVs as Chinese electric vehicles start making a big push in the European market.

The German automaker announced on Thursday that the BMW Group will convert its Munich plant to a fully electric vehicle (EV) production base by 2027. The Munich plant is the headquarters of the company, which is known for manufacturing premium vehicles.

The plant is also preparing to produce new class (new generation) EV models, whose production is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2026. The BMW Group expects a significant increase in global demand for EVs by 2030.

Currently, the Munich plant is building three new production halls to ensure smooth production of new class EV models. “By optimizing the production process and precise automation configurations, the Munich plant will reduce production costs and improve overall production efficiency,” said Peter Weber, head of the Munich plant.

BMW has been producing premium brand vehicles. The prices of which have also been expensive. Laxmi Intercontinent has been selling and distributing them in Nepal as an official distributor. The company said it is conducting a long-term market study for customers in the EV market.
