Blooming gulmohar captivates tourists

Jhapa. Thousands of tourists are attracted daily by the blooming gulmohar on the road leading to Ilam from Jhapa at Barne of Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-4. Gulmohar, which blooms in this place, attracts tourists coming here.

Tourists flock to take photos and videos of Gulmohar. Manoj Prasain, chairperson of the rural municipality, said, “We have not kept data on the number of tourists coming.” The local level has constructed drinking water, toilets and squares last year for convenience at the site. Small hotels and tea stalls are also opening.

There is also a barne tea estate on the Mechi Highway connecting Jhapa to Taplejung. In the midst of the evergreen greenery of the tea garden, the blooming gulmohar attracts every passenger. Chairman Prasain said that more tourists come on Saturdays and public holidays than on other days. The municipality has planted more than 200 gulmohar saplings in the vicinity last year.

The municipality has widened the road by laying a block in half a kilometer area along the road with gulmohar trees. Tourists have named it ‘TikTok Road’. People going to Kanyam, Sriantu, Maipokhari and other tourist places of Ilam are fascinated by the beauty of Gulmohar.

One kilometer north of here, there is the longest suspension bridge of Koshi state in Ward No. 6 of Buddhashanti. Even those who go to see the hanging bridge do not forget to enjoy the beauty of Gulmohar. Due to the attraction of Gulmohar, the number of passengers has increased in the vehicles here.
