Biratnagar. Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki has expressed the view that the economy will become more dynamic from the two-day provincial-level investment summit to be held in Biratnagar.
Addressing an interactive program on the topic of ‘Economic Status of Koshi Province: Investment Opportunities and Challenges’ organized by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Koshi Province here today, Chief Minister Karki expressed confidence that the investment summit to be held on April 18 and 19 will prove to be a milestone in fulfilling the resolution of ‘Prosperous Koshi Province, Nepal’.
Noting that the role of the private sector is important in making the country prosperous, increasing revenue and creating employment, he said that the provincial government is focused on creating an investment-friendly environment with seven amendments to the law. .
He clarified that the law is being amended based on the suggestions of industrialists and businessmen, and said that the Koshi Province government is in favor of making economic activities more dynamic by prioritizing collaboration with the private sector.
Chief Minister Karki urged everyone to benefit from the provincial government’s policy and program that ensures collateral for loans ranging from Rs. 5 million to Rs. 30 million for industrialists and businessmen who want to establish small and medium industries in Koshi Province with the support of the Swiss government.
Chairman of the Federation of Nepal Chambers of Commerce and Industry Chandra Prasad Dhakal requested the private sector to move forward with the necessary legal provisions and mutual coordination between the central and provincial governments and local levels in expanding and promoting investment. Former Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Uddhav Thapa, expressed confidence that the upcoming investment summit will be fruitful in bringing about prosperity in the province and changes in the living standards of its citizens.
