Myagdi. Beni: The project to upgrade the ring road along the banks of Kaligandaki and Myagdi rivers at Beni, the district headquarters, has been completed ahead of time. An agreement for upgrading the road was signed between Urban Development and Building Project Baglung and construction company Kathmandu on April 29, 2081 for rs 31.92 million.
Birbal Sunar, engineer of the project, said that the contractor company completed the project 20 days in advance. “As per the agreement, the construction of drains, walls and slope works have been completed,” he said. A 900-metre-long road from Kalipul of Beni-8 to Dobhan to the side of the multi-purpose ground on the west side of the open platform has been constructed at the rate of five to six meters wide. An ‘eye cat’ has been placed on the painted road.
Other projects also completed before the target
Subash Chandra Karki, director of the construction company, said that the project was prepared before the target by mobilizing adequate workers and equipment and managing the construction materials immediately after the agreement. Many projects are being delayed due to lack of budget, economic crisis, price rise of construction materials and social problems. Two other projects of Myagdi, which were taken over by the construction company, have also been completed before the target.
Beni-Arthunge-Toripani-Pakhapani road project run by Beni Municipality has been completed three months ahead of the target. The project, which was signed between the construction companies at a cost of Rs 20.9 million on January 29, 2081 BS, was targeted to be completed by July 20, 2082 BS. The beni-Arthunge-Toripani-Pakhapani road project had completed the work of widening the road, upgrading the gabion wall, drain and slope in the difficult villages of Neptechaur, Kaura, Arte, Githini and Akhet areas through the beni-Arthunge-Toripani-Pakhapani road project.
A year ago, the contract to upgrade the three-kilometer Beni-Galeshwor road under the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road project was completed within two years. The construction company had signed the contract for Rs 127.5 million on December 12, 2019 and the project was completed in December 2080.
“Though the work was completed before the target, there is a problem in not getting the payment on time,” he said. ’
Movement on the ring road
Beni bazaar on the banks of the river has been made safe and attractive after the construction of a ring road by slopeing ‘RCC’ on the embankment constructed to protect it from river erosion. On the road along the banks of the river, there has been an increase in the movement of market dwellers to walk in the evening and to escape the heat.
According to the technicians, traffic will be able to operate on the road after 21 days of the last slope. Beni Municipality Mayor Surat KC said that a plan has been proposed to the Ministry of Urban Development for the construction of darwang bus park slope and terminal building next year.
“The ring road at Benibazar has been upgraded as part of the government’s programme to build 10 model municipalities across the country,” he said, adding, “The ring road on the banks of Kaligandaki and Myagdi rivers on the outskirts of Beni Bazaar has made it easier for vehicles to move, traffic congestion in the inner part of the market area and the risk of accidents have decreased.” ’
Kaski: The irrigation and water resources management project kaski has reached the final stage of constructing a concrete wall for the protection of Benibazar, the high-risk district headquarters of floods. After the construction of a concrete wall to control the river, the road was built by filling the soil on the bank.
