The materials were distributed through the Pragati Kisan Cooperative with the aim of reducing the costs of beekeepers and increasing their profits and increasing their economic growth.
During a program organized here, Bhumikasthan Municipality Mayor Jhabilal Thapa, Deputy Mayor Balakrishna Banjade, Chief Administrative Officer Jagdish Chandra Nepali, and Cooperative Chairman Bhuwananda Bhusal distributed the necessary materials, including bees, to the farmers.
Mayor Thapa urged farmers to increase honey production and protect bees through modern beekeeping, and said that despite limited resources, the municipality has distributed the necessary materials, including bees, at a 50 percent subsidy to encourage farmers who are engaged in commercial beekeeping and support their economic development. .
Deputy Mayor Banjade, Chief Administrative Officer Nepali, Planning Branch Chief Harishchandra Bhusal and others informed that although beekeeping seems to be an easy profession, farmers face problems with pasture. They stressed that there are various problems faced by beekeepers and that the use of harsh pesticides in crops should be reduced to solve them.
The cooperative’s chairman Bhusal informed that 100 farmers affiliated with the cooperative were distributed 79 beehives with bees, 40 beehives with supers, 425 plastic containers for packing honey, 38 net caps, 50 pairs of gloves, 48 feeders, 300 leveling plates, stands and other materials with a 50 percent subsidy from Bhumikasthan Municipality. According to him, the farmers were also given two-day training before the distribution of these materials.
The farmers expressed their excitement and happiness after receiving the materials including bees as part of the grant. Farmers say that the municipality’s support will help further promote the beekeeping business.
The program was attended by Ward Chairman Buddhi Bahadur Thapa of Bhumikasthan-2, Ward Chairman Gopal Prasad Khanal of Ward No. 1, Ward Chairman Rajkumar Shrestha of Ward No. 8, as well as public representatives, employees and farmers.
