Kathmandu. Prime Minister’s Economic and Development Advisor Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada said that the upcoming budget will address the current problems of industrialists and businessmen. Addressing the central committee meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Industries and Businessmen, he said that the days of being very disappointed are coming to an end.
‘I understand that this federation has now highlighted the problems in a holistic approach in the interest of all industrialists and businessmen,’ he said, ‘The backbone of the country’s economy is small and medium industries, so start solving the demands of such industrialists and businessmen.’
He also expressed his commitment to try to address the agendas raised by the federation before the government. He also said that the federation should not only review the tax rates of industries and businesses but also focus on how to address them by making the nation and national economy dynamic. Stating that the economic growth in the current fiscal year will be around 4.5 to 5 percent, he said that although the growth rate of the manufacturing industry was negative last year, it is positive this year and the indicators of the construction and service industries are also positive.
Similarly, he informed that the Nepal government has taken forward the projects according to its priorities and that the Nepal government will take them forward. He said that foreigners have always supported us, but if they stop them now, projects including MCC will not be stopped. Speaking at the program, he urged banks to work confidently as per the plan, saying that they will not immediately increase interest rates.
He also informed that since the customs value of raw materials is currently higher than that of finished goods, it needs to be addressed and that work is being done to facilitate the import of industrial raw materials. At the program, CPN-UML Standing Committee Member and Public Organization In-charge Bhanubhakta Dhakal said that the federation should work to address the demands of all industrialists and businessmen.
‘The federation has a big role to play in solving the problems of industrialists and businessmen while the party is in government,’ he said. ‘The government will have to work to solve the problems of all industrialists and businessmen through the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. I will also support this matter.’
Similarly, at the program, Federation President Bhagirath Sapkota said that industrialists and businessmen are currently in trouble and the government is addressing their demands in that regard. “We have taken suggestions from all industrialists and businessmen and have prepared a report and submitted it to the government,” he said. “The Khanal Commission formed by the government has included most of our previous demands in the report, which is very commendable.” At the program, Deputy Secretary General of the Federation Dim Prasad Poudel announced the eCommerce project and said that in the coming days, industrialists and businessmen from all over the country will be connected to a single platform.
In the program, Finance Secretary of the Federation Gopal Khanal presented the organization’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year. At the program, Federation in-charge Rachana Khadka said that this federation should move forward by rallying all industrialists and businessmen. She also informed that the entire committee, including the elected president of the organization, should work in the interests of businessmen.
