Kathmandu. Although the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has banned the sale and distribution of plastic flowers, plastic flowers are being sold openly in markets such as Naya Sadak, Asan, Indrachowk and others in Kathmandu.
Even Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah, who has created an image of enforcing his policy no matter what, has failed to stop the sale and distribution of plastic flowers. Environmental experts say that despite this decision, the fact that plastic flowers are being sold and distributed can be considered a failure to implement the decision.
“Flower farmers should be upset because they are not selling flowers, but the fact that plastic flowers, which are considered extremely harmful to the environment, are being sold everywhere and the metropolis does not control them is a big proof of Balen’s failure,” said an environmental expert.
Various local levels across the country, including the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, have banned the sale and distribution of plastic flowers. But plastic flowers can be seen for sale not only in various shops in the valley but also in markets across the country.
