Kathmandu. After the Law and Foreign Minister and Law Secretary suggested holding a unity convention of the NRNN by May 2025 in a meeting convened by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last Friday, Badri KC has called a separate meeting to lead the organization towards division.
KC, who has been disobeying the Supreme Court’s mandate and the second letter of the Judgment Implementation Directorate, has also been giving wrong briefings to the founding president and former presidents of the organization. KC, who is a member of the NRNN High-Level Committee, has not attended a single meeting of the committee. However, he did attend the meeting convened by Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba at the ministry last Friday.
In the meeting, Foreign Minister Dr. Deuba and Law Secretary Uday Raj Sapkota stated that the unity convention should be held by May as per the Supreme Court’s mandate. But the KC side had claimed that the court’s second decision had ordered its working committee to work until next October and had claimed that it would hold the general convention in October. However, legal experts have said that after holding the unity convention next May as per the Supreme Court’s order, there would be no justification for another convention and that it would be contempt of court.
‘Now, as per the Supreme Court’s order, the general convention should be held within May. The Nepal government and the Badri KC group have also understood this, but they are deliberately spreading confusion, the lawyer said.
The Supreme Court’s Judgment Implementation Directorate had warned them to submit the entire management of the central office to the high-level committee within seven days and not to misinterpret the court’s judgment, but the KC group is refusing to hand over the keys to the central office. Their actions are seen as contempt of the Supreme Court.
