Australia’s economic growth slows to 0.2% in first quarter

Agency. Australia’s economic growth slowed more than expected in the first three months of 2025, according to national account data.

Data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed that national GDP grew 0.2 percent in the three-month quarter to the end of March and 1.3 percent in the year to March. This is a decline from the 0.6 per cent growth recorded in the last quarter of 2024 and lower than the 0.3 per cent growth forecast by economists.

In its latest financial statement, the Reserve Bank of Australia has forecast a GDP growth of 1.8 percent in the year to June.
