Attention drawn to finalize the Vice-Chancellor recommendation process as soon as possible

Kathmandu. University officials have drawn the attention of the Vice Chancellor Search and Recommendation Committee to conclude the Vice Chancellor recommendation process of Kathmandu University as soon as possible.

13 university officials have jointly sent a letter drawing attention to the conclusion of the Vice Chancellor recommendation process of the university as soon as possible.

The letter states that the process should be concluded as soon as possible as the delay in the Vice Chancellor recommendation has raised questions about the efficiency and impartiality of the committee. It has also been expressed that the names of three people will be recommended to the Chancellor based on the procedures and criteria made for the selection of the Vice-Chancellor.

“There are reports in the media that the scores of the candidates who participated in the Vice-Chancellor selection process and gave presentations and interviews were tampered with, and that new conditions that did not seem objective were put forward for the recommendation of names after the process had begun, causing inconvenience to other members of the committee.” We are all hopeful that this will be proven wrong and the names of the three people will be recommended as soon as possible based on the process and criteria approved by the committee itself,’ the joint appeal states.

The said appeal is signed by Kathmandu University School of Education Dean Prof. Dr. Balchandra Luintel, Associate Deans Prof. Dr. Prakash Chandra Bhattarai and Prof. Dr. Hemraj Kafle, Acting Dean of the School of Arts Ekkumaya Pun, Associate Dean Dr. Uddhav Pyakurel, Dean of the School of Management Prof. Dr. Vijay KC, Associate Dean Dr. Khagendra Acharya, among others.
