Kathmandu. Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) President Ravi Singh has said that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83 BS is comparatively better. He was speaking at a post-budget discussion programme organised by The Association of Economic Journalists of Nepal (NAFIJ) in Kathmandu on Saturday.
He, however, said that at least 90 per cent capital expenditure should be made in the next fiscal year.
Similarly, in the past, it has been said that one sector has been benefited, but this time the budget is not such a thing.
Some relief has also come up for the construction sector, he said. He said that it is very good that the goal is to complete the pride projects within two years. He said that now it is felt that the Planning Commission and the government have collaborated. He said that if the suggestions of the construction sector were incorporated, the target would be achieved and the general public would be benefited.
However, the budget has failed to address the sick projects, he added. He said that although the sick projects were addressed in the policies and programs, they could not come in the budget. He said that employees should be encouraged to bring sick projects into operation.
He said that it would have a positive impact on the development of projects of less than Rs 30 million. He said the government should think seriously about the amendment in the Public Procurement Act as the projects could not be completed.
