Tanahun. Roop & Organic Agro Farm, located in Bhanu Municipality-12, Kawachit, has started producing ‘Bhanuko Anadiko Khatte’ by ‘branding’ the local food grains. The farm has brought Bhanu’s Anadiko Khatte to the market with the aim of promoting Anadi rice and linking it with income.
The farm’s operator, Ramkrishna Adhikari, said that Anadiko Khatte was brought to the market by branding with the aim of encouraging Anadi rice cultivation produced in the district and municipality areas. In coordination with Bhanu Municipality, Anadi rice was made into Khatte and sent to the market.
He said that Anadiko Khatte was made to promote Anadi rice cultivation. “The cultivation of Anadi rice has been decreasing, with the aim of getting more production, locals are planting other varieties of rice,” said the operator Adhikari. “We have brought Anadi’s sour rice to the market to protect, promote and brand indigenous rice and link it with income.”
Bhanu Municipality Agriculture Development Branch Chief Binod Thapa Magar said that the municipality is supporting the branding and packaging under the indigenous crop program. He said, “The municipality has conducted departmental tests on food, technology and quality control, and after it was found to be excellent, approval has been given to send Anadi’s sour fruit to the market.”
The agriculture branch has stated that Anadi produced by farmers from all 13 wards and districts of the municipality is being made into sour fruit and sent to the market.
