Kathmandu. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has accused the society of trying to create a false narrative that an alternative to a democratic republic should be found. He made this allegation while addressing the inauguration program of the newly constructed building of the Juddha Barun Yantra Bhaktapur.
He refuted the accusation that the republic could not do anything and said that a democratic republic is a system where the voice of the people is heard. He said that the media has become the first target of the monarchy, citing the political coup carried out by the then King Gyanendra in 2061 BS. He questioned whether a monarchy that tramples on the voice of the people and ends democracy is right or a republic that listens to the voice of the people is right. He said that the media should publicize the work done by the democratic republic.
The service of the Varun Yantra has started from a new building constructed on three ropanis and seven anas of land at a cost of Rs. 57.698 crore. The newly constructed building was handed over to the office on 1 October 2081. The office, which has a staff of 32, currently has 15 firemen, four heavy vehicle drivers, two foremen and two clippers, one cleaner, one buyer, one assistant computer operator, one assistant accountant and three office assistants.
