All three units of Kulekhani are operating at full capacity.

Bagmati. All three units of the Kulekhani Hydropower Station in Makawanpur have come into operation at full capacity. As the dry season has begun, the first, second and third units of the Kulekhani Hydropower Station have come into operation at full capacity.

The first unit of the Kulekhani Hydropower Station is generating 60 megawatts, the second 32 megawatts and the third 14 megawatts of electricity. ‘The Kulekhani Hydropower Station is currently operating at full capacity for 14 to 18 hours a day, depending on the need,’ said Tara Dutta Bhatta, head of Kulekhani I. ‘All three units have been operating at full capacity since Chaitra 30.’ He said that electricity is being generated as per the need.

As the production of runoff river-based projects decreases during the dry season, all three units of the Kulekhani Hydropower Station are operating at full capacity to manage the electricity load, said Ram Kumar Budhathoki, assistant engineer of Kulekhani Hydropower Station I.

‘The runoff river-based project is fully operational during the rainy season,’ said Assistant Engineer Budhathoki. ‘At that time, we store water in the dam and With the onset of the dry season, the electricity production of runoff-river-based projects decreases. He said that the Kulekhani hydropower units will come into operation during the dry season.

‘We have been operating at full capacity as per the requirements of the power load management center,’ said Budhathoki. ‘Currently, we are generating electricity for 14 to 18 hours a day, if necessary, we will generate electricity around the clock.’

According to Assistant Engineer Budhathoki, Kulekhani Hydropower Center I has generated 81,209 megawatts of electricity from Shrawan to Falgun of the current fiscal year 2081-82. In the fiscal year 2080.81, only 34,388 megawatts of electricity were generated.
