Kathmandu. Air India Express, a Tata group airline, has started daily direct flights between Kathmandu and Bengaluru from today. The flight will further strengthen relations between the two neighbouring countries.
Kathmandu has become the 17th international destination and the first station in Nepal for Air India Express in its growing network.
The company believes that the new service will connect The Capital of Nepal with Bengaluru. Popularly referred to as the Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru is home to some of the country’s leading universities, hospitals, multinational companies and research centres.
Commenting on the launch of the service in Kathmandu, Alok Singh, Managing Director, Air India Express, said, “We are delighted to expand our presence in our neighbouring country Nepal, further strengthen our deep cultural and economic ties. This new path will bring people, stories, and traditions closer, intensifying our vision of making travel more accessible and meaningful. It will also help in our immersion expansion to short-distance international entertainment destinations such as Bangkok and Phuket. ‘
The new flight will provide one-stop access from Kathmandu via Bengaluru to other Indian cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Goa and Tiruchirappalli, as well as Abu Dhabi and Dammam in the Middle East.
Air India Express operates more than 448 weekly flights from Bengaluru, including Amritsar Ayodhya, Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Gwalior Hindon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur Jammu Kannur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mangaluru, North Goa, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Srinagar Sri Vijayapuram (Port Blair), Surat Tiruchirapalli Tiruantapuram, Varanasi Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam. adds.
In addition, the airline will provide one-stop connectivity to six domestic destinations: Agartala, Chennai Dibrugarh, Dimapur, Imphal and Bombay and 14 international destinations including Al Ain, Bahrain, Bangkok, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, Muscat, Phuket, Ras Al Khaimah, Riyadh, Salalah, Sharjah and Singapore.
