ACC Men’s Cricket: Nepal beat Singapore

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Nepal has made a good start to the ACC Men’s U-16 Eastern Regional Cricket Tournament by defeating Singapore. Nepal defeated Singapore by six wickets in the match held at the UKM Oval Cricket Ground in Malaysia.

Chasing the target of 139 runs, Nepal achieved the target in 33.3 overs at the loss of four wickets. For Nepal, opener Prasidh Jaisi contributed the highest 55 runs. He scored 55 runs in 97 balls with the help of five fours. Raunak Srivastava scored 40 runs.

For Singapore, Akash Teja took three wickets while Yuvan Pandey took one wicket. Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Singapau scored 138 runs losing all wickets in 36.1 overs. Captain Ryan Nayak top-scored for Singapore with 53 runs. Opener Ahan Bhudhanbham scored 38 runs while another opener Roshan Arun scored 11 runs.

Captain Vipin Sharma took four wickets for Nepal while Sachin Bhatta took three wickets. Shubham Khanal and Abhay Yadav took one wicket each. With this win, Nepal has two points. Nepal will now play its second match against Japan on June 15.

A total of 10 teams are taking part in the tournament, which is being conducted as per the annual schedule of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Nepal is placed in Group ‘A’ of the tournament. Nepal’s group consists of Singapore, Indonesia, Bhutan and Japan. Group ‘B’ consists of hosts Malaysia, Hong Kong, Maldives, Thailand and Myanmar.
