A five-bed hospital is being built in Humla with the support of the Indian Embassy.

Kathmandu. An agreement on effective community development projects has been signed between the Government of Nepal, the Indian Embassy and the local levels. A tripartite agreement was signed between the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, the Indian Embassy and nine local levels to cooperate in the education and health sectors at a program organized at Singha Durbar on Tuesday.

As per the agreement, the Government of India will provide financial assistance for the construction of school infrastructure and health posts at nine local levels. According to Kali Prasad Parajuli, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, as per the agreement, the Government of India will provide financial assistance for the construction of a five-bed hospital in Chankheli Rural Municipality, Humla.

Chairman of Chankheli Rural Municipality, Pyarilal Shahi, informed that the rural municipality has submitted a proposal for the construction of a five-bed hospital in coordination with the Government of Nepal. According to him, the proposal sent to the Indian Embassy through the Ministry of Federal Affairs has been approved and the construction of the hospital will begin soon.

“Humla is a remote district of Nepal. It takes almost two days to reach a well-equipped hospital from here. Many citizens are losing their lives prematurely due to lack of health services,” said Chairman Shahi, “That is why we had taken the initiative for a five-bed hospital, which has been successful. After the construction of the hospital, the locals deprived of primary health services will be provided with easy treatment facilities.”

“According to him, the entire process of construction of the hospital will be carried out in accordance with the laws of the Government of Nepal. The DPR (Detailed Project Report) has been prepared, and the work will be carried out by inviting tenders. The hospital, which is estimated to cost Rs 200 million, will be completed within 18 months.

Shahi expressed gratitude to the Government of Nepal, the Indian Embassy and other stakeholders for coordinating the construction of the hospital, and said that the construction work will begin immediately.
