Dhruvraj Raya, Mayor of Mahalaxmi Municipality, informed that the construction of the bridge has added convenience to the lives of the locals. Mayor Raya says that the distance to the municipality center has been reduced after the construction of a bridge over the Legua River connecting Ward No. 2 and 3.

‘After a long wait, the Legua River concrete bridge has come into operation,’ said Mayor Raya. ‘Without a bridge here, it was a problem for citizens to reach the municipality, but it has become easier for the marketing of agricultural produce.’ After the construction of the bridge, vehicle movement has started. Uttam Khadka, a representative of the construction company Marseille, UD JV, said that the bridge was completed as per the specified standards despite many problems.

Local Pushpa Karki said that since there was no concrete bridge over the river, people were forced to travel around Sankhuwasabha district, but now it is easier. He says that after the construction of the bridge, the situation of having to cross the river at risk has ended. “During the rainy season, it was not possible to cross this river,” he said. “When the river flooded, we had to go to the municipal center via the Sankhuwasabha district road. After the bridge was built, our daily lives have become easier.”
