75 people arrested from Pashupati on Mahashivaratri

Kathmandu. Police have arrested 75 people from the premises of the Aradhyadev Pashupatinath Temple today on the day of Mahashivaratri.

75 people have been arrested on charges of making noise and engaging in unwanted activities in the Pashupatinath area, informed District Police Range Kathmandu spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara.

He said, ‘We have arrested 75 people who were making noise and engaging in unwanted activities in Pashupatinath today on the day of Mahashivaratri.’ Some of those arrested have been detained at the Gaushala Police Circle and some at the District Police Complex, Kathmandu, the police said.

The District Police Complex, Kathmandu, has stated that 4,200 police officers have been mobilized under the command of the Superintendent of Police in the Pashupatinath Temple area on the day of Mahashivaratri today. Thousands of devotees have been thronging Pashupatinath since this morning.

For the convenience of devotees, the Development Fund has opened all four doors of Pashupatinath from 2 am and arrangements have been made for devotees to have darshan in at least 10 minutes, Pashupati Area Development Fund spokesperson Rewatiraman Adhikari informed RSS.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested three people on charges of fraud of Rs 14.45 crore on the pretext of sending them to America for foreign employment The arrested persons are Manish Raj Khadka, 24, of Musikot Municipality-1, Rukum Paschim, currently residing in Mahalaxmi-4, Lalitpur, Madhu Kumar Khadka, 27, of Musikot Municipality-2, currently residing in Tokha-3, Kathmandu, and Birendra Khadka, 34, of Musikot Municipality-2, Rukum Paschim, currently residing in Tokha-3, Kathmandu, said Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office Information Officer and Superintendent of Police Kazi Kumar Acharya. He said, “The two were arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim who had been left without contact after being lured with attractive salaries and being taken to the US for employment. He said, ‘The two were arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim who had cheated him by taking him abroad for a long time and then defrauding him of Rs. 14.45 million.’ .’

They were arrested from various places in the valley and sent to the District Police Complex, Bhadrakali, for further investigation and action, said Information Officer Acharya.
