Kathmandu. Under the leadership of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10, the river and banks of the Buddhanagar Bagmati Bridge (in front of UN Park) area have been cleaned and seven metric tons of non-degradable waste have been managed.
Kishor Singh Shahi, a Bagmati cleaning campaigner, informed that seven metric tons of non-degradable waste have been managed in the area in coordination with the acting ward chairperson of Ward No. 10, Sunita Bhitrakoti, and member Satis Tandukar.
Narayan Prasad Bhandari, Project Director of the Empowered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee, and other employees, Kamanpa Ward No. 11 Chairman Hiralal Tandukar, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Heritage Chairman Hema Adhikari and other office bearers, Kamanpa Ward No. 10 employees, Megh Ale, Chairman of the River Conservation Organization, The chief campaigner of the Bagmati Cleanup Campaign, Leelamani Paudyal, and others were active in the cleanup.
He said that the garbage collected from today’s cleanup was managed by placing it in a truck of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Environment Department Teku. Muktinath Development Bank board member Narayan Kumar Shrestha had provided masks and gloves to the Bagmati Cleanup Campaign on behalf of the bank for the cleanup. The Cleanup Campaign has stated that preparations have been made to organize the cleanup next week under the coordination of Kamanpa Ward No. 6.
The Bagmati Cleanup Campaign, which started on 5th Jestha 2070 BS, continues for two hours every Saturday morning. To support the cleanliness campaign, wards bordering the Bagmati River in Kathmandu Metropolitan City have been leading the cleanup effort for the past three weeks.
