5,500 Nepalis safe in Israel, 1,200 in Iran: Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Kathmandu. Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arjurana Deuba has expressed concern over the safety and security of Nepali citizens in the region in the context of the developments between Israel and Iran in the last three days.

Minister Rana contacted the Nepali ambassadors in Tel Aviv of Israel and Doha of Qatar by telephone and directed them to work keeping the safety of Nepalis in high priority, to remain in constant touch and to regularly disseminate updated information regarding the security alerts issued by the respective countries.

At present, there are about 5,500 Nepalis in Israel and about 12 in Iran and all of them are safe. According to the Ministry, the Government of Nepal is closely monitoring the developments between Israel and Iran and appropriate steps will be taken as per the need to ensure the welfare of Nepalis living there.
