Galkot. On the occasion of Chaite Dashain, an amount of Rs 4.263 million has been collected at the Kalika Bhagwati Temple. The amount was collected throughout the Navratri period.
Compared to last year, more than Rs 200,000 has been collected this year. Kumar Khadka, chairman of the Kalika Guthi Management Committee, informed that more than seven lakh devotees visited the historic Baglung Kalika Temple, one of the major Shaktipeeths in Gandaki Province, on the occasion of Chaite Dashain this year.
‘The most devotees and the most offerings have been collected on the main day of Chaite Dashain so far,’ Khadka said. ‘More than three lakh devotees came on a single day on Ashtami, and traffic management was also a struggle on that day.’
Special pujas are held at the Baglung Kalika Temple on Ward Dashain and Chaite Dashain, as well as on Saturdays and Tuesdays. Income is also generated from the heads of a goat, chicken and sheep offered at the temple.
