3 metric tons of garbage collected from Bagmati

Kathmandu. Today, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 31 has taken the initiative to clean the Bagmati River under the slogan ‘Two hours of volunteering a week for the nation’.

Under the leadership of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31 Chairman Saroj Dhakal, ward members Ashok KC, Huma Acharya, and office bearers of the ward civil society network actively participated in the cleaning of the Bagmati River in front of the office of Tinkune Ward No. 31.

Aloknagar Community Chairman Dhruv Pokharel, Aloknagar Marg Toll Improvement Committee Chairman DR Pokharel, and others were active in the cleaning.

Similarly, Aloknagar Bagmati campaigners, empowered Bagmati Sampanna Bagmati Committee’s Manju Rai, Sundarighat Bagmati Safa Abhiyan, yoga guru Kishore Joshi and yoga seekers, Nepal Police, Community Nepal Police, ward no. 31 employees, ward residents, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Environment Department’s Teku sanitation vehicle and a team also participated.

Around three metric tons of garbage were collected from the cleaning. Campaigner Kishore Singh Shahi informed that the garbage collected today was managed by the metropolitan city’s vehicle. The cleaning campaign has been ongoing for two hours every Saturday morning since 2070 BS.

The 616th week of the Bagmati Cleanup Campaign has been completed today.
