28 psUs make profit, 45 companies earn Rs 42.62 billion

Kathmandu. Of the 45 institutions funded by the government, 28 have made profits. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel presented the economic survey report in the Parliament.

Of the companies in operation, 28 are profitable, 15 are loss-making and two are closed. In the financial year 2080/81, the net profit of the public sector enterprises was Rs. It has reached Rs 42.62 billion.

Which is 12.88 percent less than the last review period. The net loss of the loss-making company is Rs 3.63 billion. The net profit of the profit-making institutions decreased by 11.50 percent compared to the last financial year, while the net loss of the loss-making institutions increased by 8.65 percent compared to the previous year.

At present, there are 45 public sector enterprises operating in Nepal in various industrial, commercial, services, social, public utility and financial sectors. Of these, 20 are wholly government-owned and 25 are mostly owned by the government.

In the fiscal year 2080/81, the total assets of public sector enterprises increased by 2.20 percent to Rs 29.10 billion.

The total investment of the Government of Nepal in public sector enterprises increased by 5.86 percent to Rs 703.93 billion at the end of the review period. Of this, the share investment is Rs 364.86 billion and the loan investment is Rs 339.7 billion.

In the fiscal year 2080/81, the total operating income of the institute has reached Rs 660.15 billion, which is 0.22 percent less than the previous fiscal year 2079/80. The ratio of operating income to GDP is 11.57 percent.

The Government of Nepal received a dividend of Rs 13.75 billion in the fiscal year 2079/80, while it received Rs 8.83 billion in the fiscal year 2080/81. The dividend ratio against the total share investment was 2.4 percent in the fiscal year 2080/81.
