Chitwan. Of the industries registered with the Office of Industry and Commerce, 279 have been closed. Since Shrawan of the current fiscal year, those industries registered in various places in the district have been closed (cut off). Last year, 181 industries were closed during the same period.
According to Shaktiman Kumal, the office’s information officer, most of the industries registered for foreign purposes have been closed. Some have also been closed because they could not operate. According to him, 273 new industries have been registered this year.
262 are registered as private firms, seven as community firms and four as private limited companies. This number was 329 industries registered and started operating during the same period last year.
Production-oriented, agricultural and forestry-based, tourism-oriented and service-oriented industries have been closed. He said that the number of people who register companies for foreign employment and show income and close the company after the purpose is over is increasing.
He said that the number of people who operate industries but close them to go abroad due to lack of income here is high. 2,167 industries have been renewed in this fiscal year. Of these, nine have changed their names and 31 have moved places.
Kumal informed that 28 of them have received business modification and facility recommendations.
