14 Right to Information Appeals filed at National Information Commission in last one month

Kathmandu. The National Information Commission has decided to form a committee to submit a report on amendments and contemporary improvements to the Right to Information Regulations 2065, Monitoring Guidelines 2076 and other guidelines and procedures issued by the Commission.

The Commission decided to form a committee to submit a report on amendments and contemporary improvements to the guidelines and procedures at a press conference in Kathmandu on Monday. The Commission has decided to proceed with the process of organization and management survey with in-principle agreement in the context of the Right to Information Act, 2064 BS, which has made legal provisions for the Commission to open offices as per the requirement.

At a press conference, Chief Information Commissioner of the National Information Commission, Dr. Suresh Prasad Acharya, said that under this additional regular work of the Commission, the work of receiving appeals from information activists and issuing orders accordingly is being done.

He informed that 14 appeals related to the Right to Information have been received in the last one month. He said that orders have been issued in 56 appeals that are in process. According to him, the Commission will celebrate the 17th Foundation Day of the National Information Commission on 22 Baisakh 2082 with grandeur and President Ram Chandra Poudel has been invited as the chief guest.

In the context of the Foundation Day, a notice was published on 27 Falgun 2081 through Gorkhapatra and the Commission’s website, inviting applications for the selection of the best information officer.
