12 million collected in Mahayagya

Bhaktapur. A total of Rs 12 million has been collected in the Shiva Purana Mahayagya till Thursday. The Mahayatra has been organized to develop religious tourism and to construct Kalpeshwor Dham with a 108-foot tall statue of Kalpeshwor Mahadev on the occasion of Nagarkot Visit Year-2082.

The Mahayagya has started from Baisakh 2 with the resolve to construct Kalika Kalpeshwor Dham in Kalamsi, Changunarayan Municipality-8 and install the statue of the same Mahadev. According to Janak Khatri, ward chairman of Changunarayan-8 and coordinator of the Mahayagya organizing committee, an idol of Mahadev is going to be installed in Kalamsi on an area of about 80 ropanis, along with 1,08 Shivalingas around it.

He said, ‘A master plan has been prepared for the construction of Kalpeshwor Dham at this place and various structures have been constructed at a cost of about Rs 60 million. Donor support is being received to build the idol of Mahadev.’

Kalpeshwor Mahadev Temple is located near the Nagarkot View Tower. From here, one can see the Kathmandu Valley, including Kavreko Nala, Banepa Dhulikhel. Kalamsi area is the confluence of Changunarayan-8, 9 and Banepa Municipality-1. There are religious structures in this area including Nagkund, Gosainkunda, 27 Dhara, Narayan Kund.

This area is surrounded by the Punyawati River in the east, Sapneshwar Mahadev Temple in the south, Thuli Brahmayani Temple, Balkumari Temple, Saraswati Temple in the west, Manikarnika Dham, Valmikeshwar Mahadev, Bagehini Mahadev, Lokeshwar Mahadev Temple in Thakalmoth, and Rajpureshwar Mahadev Temple in the north.
