Sankhuwasabha. Makalu Barun National Park has seized around 1,000 cubic feet of wood that was illegally cut in the central area of the park. According to the National Park, more than 1,000 cubic feet of timber was cut after obtaining 150 cubic feet permission in Bhotkhola-2, Shankhbhir area.
Chief of Makalu Barun National Park, Arjun Bhusal, said the timber has been seized. According to Bhusal, local Narche Bhote had cut more wood than the prescribed quantity. An arrest warrant has also been issued against Bhote. All the wood found in the forest is indicated. Damdangma Community Forest has been entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the wood.
