1.446 million teenage girls have received HPV vaccine, preparations are underway to provide it to men as well

Kathmandu. 1,446,601 adolescents have been vaccinated against cervical cancer (HPV). The government launched the HPV vaccination campaign on Magh 22. 1,446,601 adolescents have been vaccinated under the campaign, said Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel in a meeting of the National Assembly.

He informed that this vaccine, which is included in Nepal’s national vaccination program, is safe and effective. He said that it is provided free of charge to adolescents in the target group. He said that next year, it will be administered every year to those studying in grade 6 from the age of 10. He informed that 93 percent of the total target is 1,560,080, and 93 percent have been vaccinated.

Minister Poudel claimed that this vaccine does not cause any side effects. He said that Nepal is also studying this vaccine, as it is also given to men and to adolescents and women above the age of 14. He said that since it is difficult for Nepal to obtain it with its own capacity, it is working to create conditions for providing it through supporting organizations and friendly countries.

He said that the government is trying to find resources and provide it as needed.
