Agency. The Lao government is working with a private rubber industry to promote rubber plantations with the aim of improving the living standards of local communities. The initiative is expected to create sustainable income opportunities along with the expansion of green areas, which is expected to strengthen the economic situation of families and gradually lift communities out of poverty.

A 30-year partnership agreement has been signed to expand rubber plantations on an area of 5,000 hectares in Paktha district, Bokeo province, northern Laos, the Lao News Agency reported. Under the plan to be implemented in the area, about 350 kilometers from the capital Vientiane, the factory will provide farmers with rubber seedlings as well as necessary training on planting, protecting and harvesting rubber.

Local farmers will be actively involved in the process, which is expected to create employment opportunities and stabilize incomes. It is believed to improve rural living standards and contribute to sustainable economic development.

The project has given special priority to long-term socio-economic prosperity, environmental protection and expansion of greenery. The relevant agencies have pointed out the need for cooperation and coordination among all stakeholders, which can ensure the success of the project and equitable distribution of benefits.

Rubber farming is seen as an important part of the strategy to develop green areas and establish agriculture as a sustainable and viable profession. The Lao government has been developing the agriculture sector as a major means to reduce poverty in rural areas and raise overall living standards.
