Mahottari. Roads in Majhoura, Bisanpur and Gobraura settlements of Matihani municipality-4 and 5 are being blacktopped at the same pace. People living away from the opportunity of development are happy that the roads are being blacktopped in the settlements.
Chandeshwar Rajak of Matihani-4 said, “We have seen the road in our village, the road is being blacktopped. The residents of these settlements have started to look happy after the roads have been blacktopped.
Ishaq Kawari of Bishanpur said, “Intezaar kar paraichhai, sabke din abaichhai” (We have to wait, every day is coming). He expressed the belief that their life would be easier as the beauty of the settlement swelled after the blacktopping. Shiva Sah of Gobaraura said that with the blacktopping of the road, it would be easier to reach the agricultural produce market and trade would increase.
Residents of the settlement are happy after blacktopping of the four-kilometer road from Majhoura entrance of Matihani-4 to Gobaraura of Matihani-5 via Bisanpur under the Intensive Urban Development Programme of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction under the federal government.
Mayor Hari Prasad Mandal said that the agricultural produce will reach the market easily and reach the destination soon in case of emergency. Around 15,000 population would be benefited after the completion of the blacktopping, he said.
Of the Rs 279.97 million provided by the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction to the municipality in addition to taxes, Rs 40 million will be spent on blacktopping the Majhaura-Bisanpur-Gobaraura road, said Bimalesh Sah, chief engineer of the technical section of the municipality executive. Road expansion and blacktopping would be carried out in other ward settlements as well, he added.
Ward chair of Matihani-4, Abdur Gafar Raine, said that the blacktopping of the road will make daily life easier for the residents of Majhoura, Bisanpur and Gobaraura, who have been facing problems in access to transport, trade, health services and education due to dusty, muddy and chaotic roads for years.
Mayor Mandal, who has been regularly monitoring the blacktopping, said the work would be completed within a few days. According to him, the municipality is working with the goal of expanding and upgrading the road network to the settlements of the city. Locals are hoping that their place will soon be developed as a ‘smart city’ due to the increased infrastructure construction in the city.
