Kathmandu. It is estimated that more than 60,000 people may be infected with dengue this year. The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division organized an interaction programme and informed about this.
Speaking at the interaction programme, Chief of The Division’s Kit-Based Section, Dr. Gokarna Dahal urged the people to be alert as the dengue infection is spreading rapidly anywhere at any time as the time has come for the spread of dengue. According to him, there is a high risk of increasing dengue infection from Mid-July to the end of October.
Stating that dengue infection has been confirmed in 1,600 people from 73 districts so far, he said that the number of dengue infections is low due to lack of symptoms in patients, not testing for dengue and not reporting even if they are tested. He also said that the dengue infection has already reached the implementation stage by preparing an urgent action plan anticipating an increase in dengue infection.
Stating that the local level has the biggest role to play in controlling dengue, he said necessary coordination and collaboration was being carried out with the local levels as well.
