The beautiful, peaceful and delightful Tikot, which is inhabited by the Magar community of Pun Thar, is waiting for tourists. Tikot Secondary School Principal Thugraj Pun (Pradeep), who is also the homestay operator, said that the tourism business of Tikot, which had slowed down during the Corona period, is yet to return to its rhythm. “The tourist arrival at Tikot, which was included in the Annapurna-Dhaulagiri environmental trekking route started in 2011 under the plan of Mahabir Pun, was good before the corona epidemic,” he said. ’
Dhaulagiri, Manapathy, Nilgiri, Annapurna and Barah peaks can be seen in the background of Tikot, which is 2,250 meters above sea level. Apart from the mountain range from Panchabal Dada, which is reached after a 30-minute (hiking) trek from Tikot, the rural settlements and hilly geography of Myagdi are visible. There is homestay facility in 10 ghars of Tikot. More than 40 guests can stay in the homestay in a day. There is a rule that when foreign tourists come, they are fed in community lodges and taken to sleep in the house of the person by rotation. Mountains can be seen from the window of the homestay room.
Nepali guests go directly to the homestay by making personal contact. Gharbas and community lodges were established with the help of micro enterprise development program. You can taste the dishes of organic vegetables found in the local forest without the use of mushrooms, tussa, dhakayo greens, local chicken meat, fapar, pumpkin, cow’s milk, yogurt, pesticides and chemical fertilizers. The mother and the ancestral group welcome them with original songs and dances. The lifestyle of the residents of Tikot based on agriculture profession is also an added attraction of tourists.
The Annapurna-Dhaulagiri Community Environmental Trekking Route can be reached from Tikot via Beni-Mallaj-Banskharka-Dadakteri-Nagi-Moharedada-Phulbari-Badekharka to Khopra via Tiplang and Khiwang on Beni-Jomsom road. From Beni to Tiplang, Mahabhir, it is possible to reach Tikot by traveling on a jeep or motorcycle for two hours.
Annapurna Rural Municipality has constructed a building in Tikot to establish a museum to attract tourists, forget and preserve traditional original materials. In the last two financial years, Rs. Ward chair of Annapurna Rural Municipality-7, Mylan Purja Pun, said that the two-storied building, constructed with a budget of Rs 2.9 million, will collect the traditional original materials used for daily living.
