Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh has clarified that the budget has been allocated within the scope of ‘Project Classification Criteria 2080’.

He said this while speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly on Wednesday. He clarified that the budget has been allocated for rural development projects as the Ministry of Urban Development has got the responsibility of the Local Infrastructure Department under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration as per the decision of the Council of Ministers.

Nepali Congress lawmaker Narayan Dutta Mishra had suggested renaming the ministry as the Ministry of Rural Upliftment and Urban Development. According to Deputy Prime Minister Singh, it is natural to allocate budget for such programmes as the programmes including rural roads have been implemented under the department since the past.

“The budget has been allocated within the scope of the Project Classification Criteria 2080 in case of programmes to be implemented by the ministry in the coming fiscal year,” he said. Since the Ministry of Urban Development has also allocated the budget in the works related to the rural areas, it has been suggested to change the name of this Ministry to Urban Development and Rural Development, in the context of the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal on August 19, 2079, the responsibility of the Local Infrastructure Department under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has also been given the responsibility of the Local Infrastructure Department. are. ‘

“I would like to inform you that the budget has been allocated for such programmes as it has come under the Ministry of Urban Development in the reality that the budget has been allocated for small irrigation programmes other than the scope of this ministry,” he said.

Responding to the questions raised on the issue of allocation of budget on issues other than the scope of the Ministry of Urban Development such as minor irrigation, he said that the budget has been allocated as such programs have been in operation since the past and have not yet been completed.
