Chitwan. Chitwan National Park has closed jeep safaris within the park from today. The park has issued a notice stating that the jeep safari has been closed effective from today as it is the breeding season for wild animals and birds.
According to Abinash Thapa Magar, the park’s information officer, the jeep safari has been closed until the first or second week of Asoj. Although it will open a little later if there is heavy rain at that time, if the rain is less, the safari will open in the first week of Asoj.
The rainy season is considered the breeding season for wild animals. The park has closed the jeep safari, saying that people entering the park during this time may interfere with the habitat and reproduction of wild animals.
According to Magar, the safety of tourists has also been taken into account as the roads in the park deteriorate and floods occur during the rainy season. The park administration has been closing commercial jeep safaris every year during floods.
32 jeeps from the Sauraha area of the park, 21 from Kasara, 11 from Meghauli and nine from Nawalparasi take tourists inside the park. Jeep safaris will be operated regularly in the intermediate forest areas outside the park.
