Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed the view that it will be difficult for any party to get a single majority due to the election-related provisions in the constitution.

Speaking at a tribute meeting organized by Nepali Congress Chitwan on Friday to commemorate the seventh death anniversary of democracy fighter Late Gauri Devi Pradhan, President Deuba expressed this view.

He said that due to the inclusive and proportional system in the constitution, no party can get a single majority. He also said that it is necessary to end the disease within the party that leads to the defeat of its own leaders if they do not get a ticket in the election.

Mentioning that he became the Prime Minister and President because of the Congress, he also said that he has no other thought except to strengthen the party.

He said, ‘The current constitution is good, inclusive and proportional. All castes are represented in the constitution. But it is difficult for any party to get a majority. It is very difficult for any party to get a majority alone. Again, there is a disease in our party. Only one person gets a ticket. Those who do not get it will lose in the election. Therefore, it is necessary to eliminate this disease within the party. I am old. But I became the President and Prime Minister because of this party. That is why my aim is to make this party strong and good.  I have already said that our constitution is inclusive and proportional, but there is a need to align with some party.’

He says that everyone should work together to build an organization that can protect the constitution and bring about a single majority.
