Dhanusha. A two-day mango festival is to be organized in Dhanusha. The ‘Chitrapur Mango Festival-2082’ is to be organized by the Chitrapur Mango Agro Tourism Board on Ashad 14 and 15 in Bateshwor Rural Municipality-1, Chitrapur, Dhanusha.
Chitrapur Mango Agro Tourism Board Chairman Pradeep Mahato said that the fair was organized with the aim of promoting local mangoes. He also mentioned that the goal is to develop Chitrapur as a ‘mango tourism hub’.
Although the mango pocket zone was declared under the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernization Program, farmers say that they have not been able to market their products. This is the second time that the mango festival is being held here, said Fulgen Magahi, a member of the fair committee. More than 40 varieties of mangoes and various dishes made from mangoes, including juices and pickles, will be on display at the fair.
Chairman Mahato said that the fair will include programs such as feeding free mangoes to tourists visiting the fair, taking them around the garden, giving them the experience of picking mangoes from trees, and introducing students to different varieties of mangoes.
Currently, mangoes are being produced in more than 300 bighas of land in the Chitrapur area. According to Saroj Chaudhary, spokesperson for the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives of Madhesh Province, Madhesh Province has been contributing 77.1 percent to the country’s total mango production.
