Kathmandu. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey has clarified that Nepal’s multi-ethnic, multilingual, multi-religious and multi-cultural diversity is the source of the nation’s identity and strength. He made this clarification while responding to a question raised by lawmakers in the National Assembly meeting held on Thursday.
He said that every language and community carries its own literature, art and philosophy, and that if diversity can be promoted vigorously, it will be in the interest of the country. Minister Pandey believed that if diversity can be organized and consolidated, Nepal can preserve its original identity and gain additional strength in building an inclusive nation. He expressed his commitment to create more effective programs in the coming days to promote diversity.
He said, ‘Every language carries its own literature.’ Each language has its own philosophy, its own art, and each language has its own strength, identity, and specialty. The same goes for communities, and the same goes for castes. If diversity can be promoted in Nepal, which is multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural, with that perspective, and if diversity can be organized and brought together, then this will benefit the country’s diversity. The government is clear that it will benefit our own identity. For that, we will make more effective programs in the coming days.’
He said that Article 287 of the Constitution has provided for the Language Commission for the development of mother tongues and the protection and development of languages. He asserted that the Language Commission is carrying out the work of research, study, research, protection, promotion, and development of languages in Nepal.
