Bagmati Municipality of Sarlahi brings in Rs 1 billion more budget

Sarlahi. Bagmati Municipality of Sarlahi has made public a budget of Rs 1.3 billion 2.6 million 9 thousand 376 for the upcoming fiscal year. Acting Deputy Mayor Rupa Bomjan presented the budget at the seventh session of the municipality’s second municipal assembly on Tuesday. Acting Mayor Krishna Kumar Lama said that the budget and program have been prepared by prioritizing the city’s agriculture, tourism, health and education.

Out of the total budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83, the expenditure is estimated at 104.6 million, 750.9 thousand 376 million for capital and programs, 214.3 million for conditional grants, and 87 million for special grants, informed Acting Deputy Mayor Bomjan.

He mentioned that the sources of the estimated expenditure are Nepal Government grants, revenue sharing, provincial government grants, internal income and urban development funds, and private sector non-governmental organizations. He said that in the agricultural sector, the municipality has also given priority to the construction of a grain storage facility for the produce produced here.

A budget of Rs 28 million has been allocated for the construction of a structure in Sakhuwani for the sustainable management of vegetable collections produced within the city. Bomjan informed that a program has been prepared to develop the 35+ religious sites in the city and the Bagmati Fish Pond (Bharat Lake) being constructed by the city as an important tourist destination.

The municipality has also prepared a program for the preservation of existing and endangered languages and cultures and has approved it from the assembly, informed the acting chief administrative officer of the municipality, Pratik Bhandari.
