Kathmandu. If the driver of the tourist transport vehicle is skilled, it will be easier for the tourists and the driver while traveling, said Bedraj Bastola, chairman of the Nepal Tourist Transport Entrepreneurs Association. Speaking at the orientation training for tourist drivers and co-drivers in Kathmandu on Wednesday, he said that if the driver is competent, it will be easier for him and the tourists traveling with him.
‘Training will make the driver and co-driver active. If the driver is skilled, it will be easier while traveling, so doors of opportunity will open for them,’ he said, ‘While traveling, they will learn how to behave with tourists. Tourists should be treated as if they were guests in their own home throughout the journey.’ Bastola suggested that the driver follow traffic rules while traveling and take domestic and foreign tourists to their destinations.
Chairman Bastola said that not only the driver but also the co-driver should be equally responsible. He said that the driver should speak well and behave well with the tourists. He clarified that the driver should inform the tourists about the various places they are going to throughout the journey. He said that there should always be a cordial relationship between the tourist transport entrepreneur and the driver and the driver.
The chief guest of the driver and driver orientation training, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board Deepak Raj Joshi, said that despite the increase in investment, the number of tourists has decreased. ‘Less tourists are coming than expected due to the lack of necessary basic infrastructure.’ He said, ‘The state should be responsible and focus on infrastructure construction. This will promote Nepal’s tourism infrastructure internationally.’
He suggested that service recipients who provide services targeting tourists should focus on quality. He said that the behavior of Nepalis will increase the number of tourists and the number of tourists who come again will increase. Joshi informed that due to the recent increase in the construction of transport infrastructure, roads across the country will be connected to each other in the next one and a half years.
Senior officer of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Rajiv Bista, said that it would help reduce accidents if the driver was the most responsible during the training. He said that drivers should follow traffic rules for themselves, not for the traffic. 92 drivers and co-drivers participated in the training.
