Kathmandu. Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has proposed to form a powerful commission under the coordination of a former judge to investigate the assets of all the people’s representatives who came to the government from the party in the last three decades.

Speaking at an interaction programme on ‘Zen-G Generation and Democratic Thought’ on Sunday, General Secretary Thapa proposed to pass such a proposal from the party meeting. He said that the trust of the new generation (Gen-G) could not be won without establishing clear criteria against corruption and irregularities.

He said that a person who is not prejudiced against any party should be given the right to investigate the assets of all the leaders after 2046 BS by giving the leadership of the commission. He argued that the Zen-G generation would listen to them only if the party could dare to accept the commission’s report even if the name of the judge appeared during the investigation.

He also said that the expectations of the new generation are focused on corruption-free and virtuous politics.

“The Nepali Congress came to power after the movement of 2046 BS. After the Nepali Congress party came to power, we have taken responsibility from the ward power to the power at the center. For more than 30 years, a commission of inquiry should be formed under the convenorship of a former judge from the parliament. Let’s choose a former judge who is trusted by the country. Let’s choose people who work fairly. ‘

“Let’s choose such a person that it is not UML, NC-Maoist. And let’s ask that person to investigate the assets of all the leaders who have been in charge after 2046. And while conducting that investigation, if we dare to accept whatever the commission brings, no matter how powerful the people are, then finally the Zen-G generation will listen to us. We can no longer go among them without addressing the grievances of this generation. This is the biggest challenge for the Nepali Congress,” he said.

He said that the new generation is no longer in favor of making leaders earn for their families on the basis of fighting for the country in the past.
