Discussion underway on various titles of Appropriation Bill

Kathmandu. Today’s meeting of the House of Representatives is discussing various topics of the Appropriation Bill. In the meeting, the lawmakers demanded to make the budget citizen and development-friendly.

Presenting a proposal to cut expenditure on various ministries and commissions, including the Office of the President and Vice President, under the Appropriation Bill-2082 BS, they drew the attention of the government through the Speaker to refine the budget of some ministries.

CpN (Maoist Centre) Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey demanded the government to form an inquiry committee into the ‘visit visa’ scandal. Stating that the budget has neglected the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, he stressed the need of allocating adequate budget for the education of children, social security of senior citizens and ensuring women’s rights and security.

Stating that the budget has also neglected the sports sector, he said that the development of sports and promotion of sports has not been done. Pandey drew the attention of the Finance Minister to the lack of effective implementation of projects below Rs 30 million through the project bank.

CpN (Maoist Centre)’s Ganga Karki drew the attention of the government to increase production and cut unnecessary expenditure in the budget. He complained that the appropriation bill has not given priority to the reform of economic program, promotion of agricultural production, development of sports and tourism sector. He said that the budget has discriminated against Dolakha.

Rastriya Janamorcha lawmaker Chitra Bahadur KC said the state should take information about the situation of youth in Nepal. “What is the status of the youth in Nepal now, what are we teaching our youth? What are we teaching? What is our educational level?, Isn’t the knowledge taught to our new youth that you should be ready to go abroad? Therefore, there is a need to change the education system. ’
