Agency. Washington: Us President Donald Trump could continue to control The National Guard forces in Los Angeles on Thursday, despite california governor Gavin Newsom’s objections.

In a 38-page unanimous ruling, the three-judge panel said Trump’s failure to issue a federalization order directly “through” the California governor does not limit his otherwise legitimate right to summon the National Guard.

“Trump was within his authority when he ordered 4,000 Members of the National Guard to serve for 60 days in order to protect federal employees performing federal functions and to protect federal property,” the judges wrote. ’

In a post on Truth Social on Thursday night, Trump celebrated the decision as a “big victory”. “Across the United States, if our cities and our people need protection, we are the ones to give it to state and local police if they are unable to get things done for whatever reason,” Trump wrote.

Last week, a lower court judge ordered Trump to return California National Guard control to Newsom, saying the president’s decision to deploy them to protest-hit Los Angeles was “illegal”. Newsom welcomed the earlier decision, saying Trump was “not a king, he’s not an emperor, and he should stop behaving like that.”

Trump, who has repeatedly exaggerated the scale of the unrest, sent 700 American Marines to Los Angeles, claiming they had lost control of the “burning” city despite objections from local authorities. For the first time since 1965, a US president deployed the National Guard against the wishes of the state’s governor.

According to the New York Times, Trump appointed two judges to the panel of the Ninth Circuit of the US Appeals Court and former President Joe Biden appointed a third judge.
