Humla. Humla: The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is being observed in Humla throughout the week. A meeting of the stakeholders on Wednesday decided to observe the day by organizing various programmes for a week.
This day is being celebrated from June 10 to June 15. A meeting of the stakeholders held at the District Administration Office is scheduled to hold an interaction discussion programme on drug control at the District Police Office at 7:00 am on June 15. Chiefs of district-based security agencies and representatives of concerned bodies were present in the meeting.
On the same day, the District Police Office in coordination with the local levels will conduct awareness classes against drug abuse in various schools, community police partnership program, awareness programs on the causes of drug abuse, symptoms and responsibilities of parents up to ward and toll level, said Chief District Officer Narayan Pandey.
The District Traffic Police will strictly check the border points and transport vehicles to control drug trafficking on a week-long basis, conduct public awareness programs targeting the border areas as they are prone to drug trafficking, request all the local levels to mainstream the campaign against drug abuse in the policies and programs and budget of the local level, request all concerned to celebrate this day at the local level in a grand manner and on the last day of the day from airport chowk at 11 am.CDO Pandey said that the rally will be taken out and the district coordination committee will be present and the program will be concluded with review.
