Kathmandu. Minister for Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary has stressed the need for holding periodic elections by amending the Nepal Scout Act as per the time. He said this while addressing a program organized on the occasion of the 74th Foundation Day of Nepal Scouts in Kathmandu on Thursday.
He said that the Ministry was working effectively to bring the Nepal Scout Act in time. He expressed confidence that the new act would solve the existing problems.
He said that the role of scout volunteers is important to avoid disaster risk completely and for disasters. He directed the leadership to develop and expand scout activities by managing the internal resources of Nepal Scouts.
He also directed to integrate the resources and assets of Nepal Scouts and bring them under the ownership of Nepal Scouts and pay attention to its proper management and mobilization.
Minister Chaudhary said, “It is necessary to amend the Nepal Scout Act according to the time and hold periodic elections. The Ministry is working effectively to bring the Nepal Scout Act in time. The new act will address the problems that are currently being faced. After the promulgation of the new Act, the three-tier government will feel more responsibility and help in the performance of the work. The role of scout volunteers is important to avoid disaster risks and for disasters. ‘
“Scouts will play an important role in emergencies if we are able to provide more to disaster management training. I will play a role for more investment and support from the government in this regard. I would like to instruct the current leadership to develop and expand scout activities by managing the internal resources of Nepal Scouts. “I am directing to integrate the resources and assets of Nepal Scouts and bring them under the ownership of Nepal Scouts and pay attention to its proper management and mobilization,” he said.
Minister Chaudhary directed the leadership of Nepal Scouts to move ahead with an action plan to expand the scouts to 700,000 organizations by 2032. Stating that strong leadership and presence of scouts was necessary at all levels and sections of the society, he said that scouts should work with special attention to Madhes, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
He said that the need of the hour is to take Nepal Scouts to all state and local levels, to make them active at the community level and to end every distortion and anomaly in the society.
