Kathmandu. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Wednesday that two buildings that were the site of the construction of centrifuge components for Iran’s nuclear program were destroyed in The Karaj near the capital Tehran.

The UN agency’s announcement came hours after the Israeli military said it had carried out a series of air strikes in Tehran and surrounding areas. “The IAEA is aware of attacks on two centrifuge manufacturing facilities in Iran, the Tessa Karaj workshop and the Tehran Research Center,” the IAEA said in a post on X. The JCPO refers to the 2015 agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

“Another attack on a site in Tehran led to an attack on a building where advanced centrifuge rotors were manufactured and tested,” the agency said in another post on X. A few hours ago, an Israeli military statement described its air strikes in the Tehran region.

“Tehran’s centrifuge manufacturing facility was targeted as part of a broader effort to disrupt Iran’s nuclear weapons development program,” the Israeli military said. Centrifuges are important for uranium enrichment. It is a sensitive process that can produce fuel for nuclear reactors or a core of a nuclear reactor in a highly expanded form.
